Landskroon Courtyard

Van Riebeeckshof

Reclaimed cobblestones were used to form this small garden patio in Van Riebeeckshof, creating a warm and intimate seating space beneath a mature tree. Salvaged materials give the terrace a weathered character reminiscent of old European courtyards.

Material expression

The patio is composed of reclaimed cobblestones salvaged on site, allowing the surface to retain a time-worn texture that immediately grounds the space within its landscape setting. Their irregular patina introduces depth and variation that would be difficult to replicate with new materials.

Sandstone slabs were also used for a second seating area under a large Karee tree. Together, the materials create a composition that feels both natural and quietly crafted, reinforcing the intimate character of the space beneath the tree canopies.

The result is a small but characterful garden retreat — a place for quiet morning coffee or an evening glass of wine beneath the trees.
